Amen. My uncle (Mom's older brother) flew for the RCAF in WWII. He died in March, and I spent much of the day wondering how each year brings fewer and fewer of them to the cenotaphs of Canadian cities.
Even after they are all gone, the need to understand their impact on our present and future will persist. The responsibility for doing so passes to us. I don't feel worthy next to them, but I don't think society has much choice. Forgetting, after all, is not an option.
